Abstract
The World is walking into a new era of Evolution which scientists refer to as ‘Meta – Biological Evolution’ i.e., evolution beyond Biology or the evolution of a new type of awareness. Beyond materialism, the world is now desperate in its searching for the meaning of life in its full. It can be seen, the structure of the society and the day to day activities of people living in it are more and more getting concentrated and depended on the significance of one beautiful term –Spirituality. Spirituality through Value education becomes so significant in this modern nuclear age because of the creeping dissatisfaction into the family and professional lives of people. In order to keep pace with the fast world and changing times, people sometimes let go of their value system. As a result they feel frustrated, destabilized and drained of their enthusiasm and happiness. Values and will power which creates a lasting impression on the child, thus deeply influencing the future activities of the child. Adoption of values has a direct effect on the society. A society or a country will prosper when the values are adopted. Value education When we look at institutions of learning, we find there an atmosphere of grave indiscipline. The relationship between the teachers and the students is uninspiring. A large number of teachers are not deeply devoted to their noble profession. It seems that most of the teachers do not understand the importance of their role as builders of a nation or a society and as molders of neither men nor do they evince any sign of such great responsibility. The students also do not have humility and love and regard for their teachers nor have they any reverence for knowledge which too has lost the elements of enlightenment and ennoblement. Most of the educational institutions are now mere centers of academic interest where one goes to learn and cram some bits of information or certain skills and in return get diplomas or degrees so that one can claim some social status and entitlement to certain jobs. Thus lack of moral education in early period of life, may result in proliferation of characterlessness in all professions all segment of society and all spheres of human activity. At that stage, interaction of one individual with another or one professional with another would further fuel corruption and moral degradation. It would act as a chain reaction. The whole society would thus become a breeding place for forces of corruption, immortality and unethical practices. Consequently all would suffer, each one blaming the other for his share of troubles. None would be able to control the other as all would have one moral weakness or the other. Value education aims at supplementing conventional education, supplying important information and teaching skills without which your chances of experiencing success in your physical, emotional social and spiritual life are diminished. Values and spirituality are interdependent. Values and spirituality are central to the moral philosophy of human civilization and its legal institutions. Values and spirituality are considered traditionally to be the prerogatives of the religions and they are viewed as being embodied in the family unit. Our collective inability to live up to our espoused values and moral principles, with the exception of a few outstanding individuals, has paved the way for a long but slow moral decline. Today we face a crisis of values. The solution lies in the ‘Transformation beginning with self. The first transformation has to be at the belief-level. One has to know that his real identity is as a soul, a point of light and that, in his original nature, his pure and peaceful and is an immortal child of God, who also is a Point of Light and is perfectly Pure, Peaceful, Blissful and Loveful. Based on this consciousness and, having faith in the law of Karma and Reincarnation, one has to make efforts, with resoluteness of mind, for inner transformation. This effort must be accompanied with the practice of Yoga Meditation, for that gives the practical experience of peace and bliss and strengthens the roots purity. The self transformation leads to a Better World.
