Abstract

Womanism is the core issue of this project. Over half the people in Indian community are women. Although they have had the law behind them, women are yet to enjoy the equality they are entitled to in theory. Men need to contribute more to family life, while women are yet to make real impact on decisions affecting the lives of everybody. Two thirds of the world‟s illiterates are females. Of the million of school age children not in school, the majority are girls. Studies show that when women are supported and empowered, the entire society benefits. Their families are healthier, more children go to school, agricultural productivity is improved and income increases. In short, the community becomes more resilient. “Empowering women is an exigency for formulating the great nation. When women have been empowered multitude with fortitude is assured.
