Abstract
Emotional Maturity is understood as knowing what one’s feelings are and using that knowledge to make good decisions as one’s response to a particular situation in a right manner. According to some, it is about doing the right thing in a right way at a right time. D. Goleman (1995:9) who is one of the authorities in a related area called emotional intelligence defines it as: “Knowing what one’s feelings are and using that knowledge to make good decisions.” Our emotions are influenced by external factors. It can be improved and brought to maturity.IN the normal course of our life, emotional intelligence tends to increase as we learn to be more aware of our emotions, to effectively handle distressing emotions. As we become mature, our emotional intelligence increases. Maturity describes this process of becoming more intelligent about relationships. Reading value based literature can be one such factor.
