Abstract
Morality and virtues give satisfaction to a person and elevate him spiritually as well as save him from worldly troubles. A minute‟s tolerance can sometimes save a life. A filthy mind endangers health and breeds bad qualities and makes the person unstable. Straightforwardness indicates a clean heart. Freedom from pride is a noble quality. Love brings bliss and power. Calmness of the mind instills reason and serving others is like serving one‟s own self. So virtues are conductive to great happiness. The way to progress of self improvement, one has to change ones outlooks, habits, mannerism and learn certain things and unlearn certain things. The path to progress is paved with obstacles such as man‟s pride- man‟s arrogance about his own knowledge. Another majour hurdle is his attachment to worldly object, his lust for sensual pleasures, his sense of deep involvement and his attachment to his body. The first step towards an elevated life is to withdraw his attention and attachment from “Religions” from the body and its various relationships, which robs ones life of its essence, and to devote his mind and body to the welfare of the world. This will bring him qualities of humility, sacrifice, tolerance, fellow feeling and other noble traits of high character.
