Abstract
The term meditate originally stems from the latin root meditation. However, the trend of meditation is found all over the country even the world too. Differences only are noticed in the extent of techniques and methodology. Though apparenty it seems some differences in case of definition of meditation from country to country and even religion to religion, but the objectives of meditation is almost same in every corner of the world. Meditation is deep and purposeful thought eternal verities. It is a method to dwell on the landscape of one‟s mind with understanding and a means to access one‟s sub-conscious. It teaches one to have concentration, single track thinking and instant recognition of deviations from your intended focus. If we look at the scenario of our country, i.e. the primitive era, we are to witness of the several cases that some SADHUS, SANNYASIES, YOGIES MUNI & RISHI succeed to be a superman with a view to attain perfect aims and objects for their own interest choosing a solitary place for this meditation for a long period of time. Only in Indian history there are many cases like this, let us discus a few cases as for example Valmiki, Swami Vivekananda, Ramkrishna etc. what they have done ? What type of method did they follow in meditation ? What purpose had they chosen this track for ? Was it for the well being of the people of the society or for a good number of youths of our country. Keeping the disputes and logic away, if we findout the simple solution of the cases, our observation says that, in case of Valmiki, circumstances competted him to come to this track while he was completely ruined by evil practices, and ultimately having done meditation for a vast period he was turned into „Valmiki Muni‟ and background history says a hidden scene was behind the screen. And as a result he became the author of the „Ramayana‟ a religious book of people who belong to Hinduism. What happened in case of Swami Vivekananda? He developed himself for the SANATAN HINDU DHARMA. He was the great disciple of Ramakrishna Deva. We feel ourselves proud that, he was the only person who proclaimed first the essence of Hindu Dharma in the world. His first and foremost duty was to propagate the greatness of Hinduism in the world. Apart from that, he gave an arena for the youth to come forward for the wellbeing of the country. And henceforth the 12th January of every year is observed as the National Youth day. And thus, though we are very much regret for that, his chapter closed for ever due to his premature death. Question is this, his strategy of meditation was also treated a different kind. His aims and object also are different from others to some extent. Now we may review the third case i.e the very recent religious person. Ramkrishna Deva. If we recall our memory to that period it is appears that he devoted his entire life to the Aradhana of Shakti i.e the Goddess Kali. He wanted to see the Mahashakti by his earthly eyes. Later Ramkrishna was called Ramkkrishna Param Hansadeva. In this case also the type of meditation has already been altered. There is no resemblance to others. If we accumulate the three cases, strategy of three spiritual persons as well as their aims and objects are totally different from each other, though appearentyly it seems to us that their strategy was complete personal. 5 However, a question naturally arises here that do there strategies impose any impact to the wellbeing of the people specially the present young generation? It is true to express that it must not be treated as a criticism against three above cited religious dignatories. It is only to recollect the Indian history and culture where the practices of meditation existd since the primitive times. Obviously it has made the Indian history a precious one. If we approach in quest of such practices in other religious group of Indian history, so many instances of DHYAN, PRANAYAM & UPASANA are found in Buddhism, Jainism, Christianism and Muslim also only it may be noted here that the terms meditation, defination extent of techniques and methodology vary from one religion to other religion.
